The Opening day of the
Premier League!

Well the first weekend of the Premier League has been and gone, we have now seen most teams in action. From what I've seen so far i am a bit worried about a couple of my predictions, QPR looked a lot more shaky at the back than i thought they would be, the encouraging sign however was the way they started the game, having a goal disallowed but still a 4-0 loss is not great to build confidence. You've got to give a lot of credit to Bolton though, they've picked up quite a few bad injuries already but it doesn't seem to have affected them and their team looked very solid and what a cracking strike from Cahill!

Chelsea didn't look as good as I thought they would, but it is against a really tough team to beat in Stoke and the fact that Torres looked quite impressive the only thing lacking was a goal. Might stick my neck out here and say Torres will nick the the top scorer award this season!

I was quite impressed with Wolves coming back from a goal down, Fletcher looked really up for it throughout the game and got a fully deserved goal and as I thought Blackburn look like they may struggle today , they didn't even have proper defenders playing centre back, Robinson was again left to save them on
a few occasions.

Arsenal gave an uninspiring display, they had a lot of the possession but like usual couldn't create many chances and seemed to try and walk the ball into the net. Gervinho looked a decent player but seemed to lack the final ball just like the rest of the Arsenal team. The big talking point in the game however was Joey Barton, Alex Song stamped on the back of his leg and should have been red carded, then the red mist descended over Joey, Gervinho made a run into the area and went down under a challenge, Joey Barton went mental, he felt it was a clear dive as he went over to Gervinho and dragged him off the ground to remonstrate with him , luckily Steven Taylor came in to break it up, but there was more to come as Gervinho slapped Barton in the face and Barton certainly made the most of it jumping to the ground clutching his face! Again it was frustrating to see a player diving to the ground but to be fair maybe if Joey didn't jump to the ground the referee might not have sent Gervinho off which would've been the wrong decision. I think the referee handled it well in the end, and overall had a good game.

The last 2 games to take place were far less entertaining but it showed Wigan and Norwich will be battling with each other throughout the season as there didn't seem much between them, I was disappointed to see Al Habsi make a mistake as I'm a massive fan of him, but Norwich capitalised and managed to nick a point. Victor Moses looked really impressive though, a possible replacement for N'Zogbia! The final game was a 0-0 between Aston Villa and Fulham, really like both of these teams, Fulham had the chances to win in Riise when it on goal put an effort just over the bar and then Shay Given proved why he is possibly the best keeper in the Premier League, with a number of top saves which saved the point for Villa.

Not the best start to the Premier League but it is just great to have it back on our screens!
Tonight we have Manchester City vs Swansea! Should be a good game to see how Man city cope with a team that fully goes on the attack, cant wait!
